John Shields Robinson, 94, of Lexington, died Wednesday, February 14, 2013, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital of natural causes.
Born June 15, 1918, at Hollow Rock Farm in Alleghany County, he was a son of the late Virginia state Senator Austin Amelius Robinson and Hortense Henderson Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church.
John served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion, and Sons of the American Revolution.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Jean Proctor Robinson, of Lexington; one son, John Mark Robinson, of Jonesboro, Ga.; four daughters, Suzanne Robinson Jones and husband, James A. Jones IV, Nancy Robinson Sheridan, all of Lexington, Abigail Robinson Coppock and husband, David M. Coppock, of Sarasota, Fla., Norma Robinson Jones, of Staunton; 11 grandchildren, Courtney H. Harjung and husband, Thomas, Austin R. Coppock, James A. Jones V, Stephen M. Coppock, William R. Jones, Patrick A. Sheridan, Whitney W. Allen and husband, Michael, Leah C. Jones, John M. Sheridan IV, Ashley N. Robinson, Ariana M. Robinson.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. William Klein officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington.
Family will receive friends 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
