Thank you

A stem of fresh yellow Virginia forsythia from one of my Pappy's several bouquets at his grave site in Covington, Virginia. The bud vase is Green Chinese Tigers by Wedgwood.

I would like to say thank you to the dozens of emails, Tweets, blog comments, Instagram comments, Facebook messages, text messages, and the so many other ways you all have been there for me over the past week. It means a great deal to me during this difficult time. As I may have said previously, while my parents and I have lost a great number of friends in my lifetime, losing Pappy is the first parent loss they have had. It really has been a painful time, but we are so lucky he left us on Valentine's Day, having been truly out-of-sorts for just five days. Thank you again for being there for me.

  1. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. It's certainly difficult to lose someone you love.

  3. That photo of the stem in the vase is arrestingly beautiful. So minimalistic and unique. Done with that Southern élan that makes us Yankee types just a wee bit jealous. :)

  4. hey whitney,
beautiful picture and i'm terribly sorry to hear about your pappy. i hope you and your family are there to support each other through it, it's a sort of impossible personal experience to describe to someone what it feels like, and i'm so sorry you have to go through this loss. hopefully you can focus on the good times.
    much love.

    1. Thank you so much! What a sweet thing to say. It has been so hard and difficult. I just often struggle to wrap my head around it that he won't be in their house anymore, and that she is in that big home alone now. I have never been though this before so you are exactly right in that it is an "impossible personal experience." I sincerely appreciate your sympathy. Much love back.
