You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

You can also watch the video they produced about Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:

Tropical Traditions also carries other varieties of affordable high quality coconut oil. Visit their website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil, and to read about all the advantages of buying coconut oil online. This product is USDA Certified Organic, and tastes wonderful. It melts down beautifully and has a strong, pure coconut scent. Plus, purchasing this product helps support family farms in the Philippines.

Friday's Fancies #126: April Showers

Happy Friday, y'all! Anyone else love looking elegant on a rainy day? I tend to veer towards the classics: a colorful jacket, some wardrobe staples underneath, and some protective boots. You need to still look put-together and chic, even if your legs get a little damp from the rain drops! Perfect for a workday here in RVA.

Friday's Fancies: April Showers

Ted Baker cap-sleeve dress, $245 / Peter Pilotto colorblock shirt, $960 / Burberry Prorsum double breasted trench coat, $4,995 / BCBGMAXAZRIA a-line skirt, $51 / Hunter Wellington boots, $135 / Jimmy Choo metallic stilettos, $650

Moore and Giles spring 2013

I received the most recent Moore & Giles catalog in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I would show you some of their highlighted items for this season. You may remember I wrote about them last May. This leather goods company dates back to 1933, and exists in the greater Lynchburg, Virginia, area - technically in Forest, which is where Thomas Jefferson's retreat from society was located, called Poplar Forest.

The Minor small upright briefcase (12"L x 13"H x 3"W) is the perfect bag for a woman who likes options - short handle or long strap? Maybe you use an iPad instead of a laptop, and you need something you can carry items in like a portfolio or notepads. This bag is perfect for you! I love it in Tuscany Steel, $615.

Anyone getting married soon? A classic and elegant groomsmen gift would be the Donald dop kit (9"L x 8"H x 3.5"W). It is available in five colors. Really, any gentleman would love to recieve something like this kit. But a woman who has an affinity for leather cases when travelling would love it as well. The titan milled brown, brompton brown, and american bison would coordinate beautifully with a Louis Vuitton duffle or trunk. I love the rich pebbled texture of brown of the American Bison kit, $135.

Do you enjoy going picniking in the warmer months? Use the Petty bottle bag from Spring through Fall to carry water or wine on your next picnic (9"L x 14.5"H x 4"W). It uses Martexin™ Original Wax cloth and has padding for two bottles (if you need a larger bag the Belle picnic tote works wonderfully). The interior padding is removable if you want to fit more items within it, such as wrapped panini sandwiches, baguette and cheese, etc. I love the waxwear rangertan/titan milled brown leather the most, $275.

Are you soon celebrating an anniversary or birthday of a significant other? Maybe wanting to mark the occasion with something incredibly special, as he/she plans to do for you? Consider a new wallet made of something luxurious, like tan alligator. Moore & Giles has the bi-fold wallet (4"L x 3.5"H). The color is gorgeous, the kind of wallet you would see in Italy. This wallet comes in eight colors, can be monogrammed, with six card pockets and two slip pockets, $550 as shown, but starts at $195.

Lastly, a bag perfect for a graduate student (especially a law school student), a professional who can use a portfolio-style, slim briefcase for work. A writer would love this bag as it would fit legal-sized pads. A professor or teacher could easily carry exams to grade using this bag. The colors are simple, details are unfussy. The Wilson slim briefcase opens and closes with a buckle (16.5"L x 13"H x 1"W). The briefcase does has an interior zip, as well as business card and cell phone pockets, $515. I love the two colors, but I wonder how it would love in an Hermes-esque orange hue, or maybe a same-shade briefcase and buckle. I feel like the light contrast in shades that do exist on this bag make it a bit more casual than it ordinarily would be... but that is just my opinion. It is still well-made, handsome, and incredibly useful.

Friday's Fancies #125: Neon Nights

My first post for Friday's Fancies, as dreamed up by {av} at Long Distance Loving every week, is below:
Friday's Fancies: neon nights

Topshop dress, $92 / H&M chiffon top, $20 / Emilio Pucci cotton blazer, $1,833 / J Brand skinny fit jeans, $330 / Christian Louboutin shoes, $775 / Le Silla leather sandals, $905 / Chanel handbag, $1,999 / Marc Jacobs leather bag, $208 / Balenciaga bracelet, $555 / Pieces necklace, $43 / Marc by Marc Jacobs leather bracelet, $95 / Alexis Bittar drop earrings, $100

If it was this time last year I would have included the awesome neon dresses that were at Nanette Lepore for Spring 2012! I hope you like what I came up with instead. Sometimes it is fun to pair a bright neon with a neutral, like neon yellow-green with black. It is so sleek. Another great option is the unique, but somehow it works, neon yellow-green accessories with a white tank and blazer, peach-neon-pink skinny pant, and nude sandals. This looks is really Miami Beach in the 80s, but if you are confidant you can pull it off.

I have been getting {av}'s Long Distance Loving emails for months and months. Even though I am quite tech-proficient, I have neglected to actually do a link up of hers. Whomp whomp. She sends us her ideas for posts (with very little direction!). Then our creative juices start flowing. Our directions this week from {av} were, "share a pop of neon to help brighten up your week." I knew exactly what to do!

Donna Karan on 5 key pieces for women (Lucky Magazine)

The May 2013 issue of Lucky Magazine featured a short article by Jenna Gottlieb titled, "5 key pieces every woman should own" (pp. 48-49). Her highlighted designer was Donna Karan, who clearly knows how to dress women! I really enjoyed this article, my only wish was that it had been a few pages longer. Sometimes magazines are too conservative with features such as this one.

I thought it would be fun to do a Polyvore based on this article, and then do my own take on the same items. I hope you will let me know if you feel the same way as Donna Karan in terms of these different pieces.

1. Bodysuit "It's all about the tuck-in factor. With a bodysuit, even if you wear your pants sloppy and low, you're still clean on top."
DKNY bodysuits

A few ladies on Twitter this past week were talking about the dislike of the bodysuit, but I really think it works on a lot of women if they aren't too busty. A bodysuit really makes outfits work well by pulling something together with little effort (add skirt, add pant, etc.).

2. Anorak "The anorak has been a DKNY essential since the beginning. It's the idea of her wearing his clothes, and there's something so sexy about that."
DKNY anorak jacket

I love an anorak in a bold color and with the ability to give you shape. Not your shapeless rainy-day-at-beach anorak. The ones with straps at wrists, waist, hips, neck to still give you a feminine silhouette.

3. Belt Bag "We're constantly in need of our cell phones, but who wants to carry a purse all the time? Just throw all your stuff in a belt bag and you still have your hands!"
DKNY runway belt bag

I found number three ironic as just on this past week's episode of The Rachel Zoe Project she actually said at one point "Once you go fanny pack, you never go back." I honestly never thought I would hear Rachel Zoe promote fanny packs/utility belts but they are apparently helpful for her when she is carrying Skyler and her Starbucks.

4. Printed Jeans "Printed jeans in browns and whites and blacks-how amazing? They're neutral, so you can wear them with everything."
Printed jeggings from DKNY Jeans

Until I reach my goal weight, this is just not happening for me. Sorry! I am sure it is easier on people with no butt and quite small hips/thighs. I am not there yet. And I think it looks silly on me!

5. Yellow Dress "Every girl needs a work-to-beach-to-night dress. This one is not at all fussy, but it's completely showstopping."
Yellow Dress DKNY

Surprisingly, yellow is a lot more flattering on me now as I have grown older. I think my skin is more even-toned and my hair is darker which makes it a better hue on me than before. Anyone else warming up to yellow?
